Collaborations the world never saw coming are amongst the most enticing collaborations the world has to offer. You know, for the sheer fact that said collab even exists in the first place.
From last years’ out-of-this-world Herschel Supply Co. x Mandalorian collaboration to the atrociously cool Balenciaga x Crocs movement that overtook the world of fashion, we suspect that we’re in for a treat in awkward collaborations throughout 2022.
And, it seems like we just got our first one.
Shinola x Serta 313 Mattress
In a collaboration that feels borderline illegal, the well-known 91-year-old mattress brand Serta teamed up with subversive watch and accessory brand Shinola to give us the all-new 313 Mattress Collection.
This collaboration works to merge your classically durable, extra-plush mattress with a timeless style with a dapper visual aesthetic. Because that’s exactly what your mattress almost always covered in sheets was lacking: some swag.
While the visual experience of a mattress feels a little pointless, Shinola topped this Serta collab off with modern detailing that includes stitched Shinola lightning logos and a bold bordered stripe around. In ditching style efforts, the mattress is complete with a cooling cover and a gel memory foam layer for added comfort.
We’re still trying to wrap our heads around the whole “why?” aspect of this collaboration while leaning toward the zone of “why not?” but hey, it exists. A mattress that actually looks cool. Finally, a reason to throw away the Pokémon bed sheets you’ve been using to cool-ify your mattress for the past 15 years.
The Shinola x Serta 313 Mattress is available on Serta’s website starting at $889 a pop. There are four sizes available, including a twin XL, queen, king and California king. Mattresses ship in a box directly to your front door for added ease, saving you a trip to Mattress Firm.
